The Forgotten Fleet: Equipment Archaeology
Year 2089: The Orbital Medical Station Asclepius has inherited a vast inventory of medical equipment from decommissioned Earth hospitals. The equipment is functional, but critical metadata was lost during the Great Data Migration of 2067.
The Problem
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Yuki Tanaka pulls you aside after your shift:
"We have a compliance audit coming up. The Federation requires us to track equipment age for maintenance schedules, but our inventory system is missing manufacturing dates."
She slides a tablet across the desk showing rows of equipment data.
"I need you to figure out the manufacturing year for as many devices as possible. Use whatever methods you can—research, pattern recognition, automation, AI... I don't care how you do it, just get me those dates."
The Challenge
Your mission is to:
- Retrieve the equipment inventory from the station's database
- Determine the manufacturing year for each piece of equipment
- Submit your enhanced data with the years you've identified
Not every piece of equipment will be easy to date. Your goal is to accurately identify as many as possible.
Technical Notes
The inventory contains equipment from multiple manufacturers including GE Healthcare, Olympus, Stryker, Philips, Zoll Medical, and others.
"There's always a way to find the information you need. Sometimes it's obvious, sometimes it requires creativity." — Dr. Tanaka
Scoring
Points are awarded based on accuracy:
- You must correctly identify at least 50% of the identifiable equipment to receive points
- Maximum 250 points for correctly identifying all records
- Partial credit is awarded proportionally
